Believe and Not Doubt

James 1:6 NIV  But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

When we ask something of God, he expects his children to have faith – faith that he’ll do what we ask of him, but also faith to believe that he knows best.  Maybe you’re asking for a dream to be fulfilled, for favor in a job interview, for the money to get your car fixed, whatever it is, show God you trust him by putting your faith and hope in him.  He will honor that and do mighty things for you.

We have no idea how much goes on behind the scenes with him arranging things for us.  I’ve had those days where I’m out on the road and I get all green lights heading out and coming back.  Things like that I tend to overlook sometimes as God’s favor.  He’s so good, he not only wants to give you what you ask for, he wants to make your day brighter by giving you things you wouldn’t think to ask for.  In some of my prayer times, I make it a point to not ask for anything, but just give him thanks for what he’s done.  It’s times like those when all of those little things come flooding to my mind and I realize just how much time and thought he’s putting into my life – MY little life.  We’re not little to him, though.  Although there’s billions of people on this earth, he is father to all.  And he’s got the capability to make us each feel loved and cared for, as high above us on every level as he is.  And he does it because he loves us.

So, the next time you ask the Father for something, know that you’re asking someone who loves you more than any human could, and trust that the outcome will be just what you need.
